Czech UNESCO Sites Tour

itinerary

Arrive at Prague airport and transfer to hotel—dinner at a modern contemporary Czech restaurant.

On the second day we’ll visit the first UNESCO included site – Prague’s Old Town. During our tour we will visit some impressive monuments, including Charles Bridge, and a multitude of churches and palaces, that were mostly constructed in the 14th century under the rule of Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV.

Dinner at typical Czech restaurant.

In the morning we’ll leave Prague to reach the park in Pruhonice and it’s chateau.

Since 1885, when the park was founded, no other landscape architect has had 250 hectares of land at their disposal to design as they pleased, limited only by their own ideas and plans. Nor is it usual that one architect would continue to care for their work for nearly 50 years. A. E. Silva-Tarouca created the last independent landscape park in the country and possibly the world.

Individual free time and lunch in Pruhonice and transfer to Kutná Hora

The centre of Kutná Hora, including the Sedlec Abbey and its Ossuary (bone church), was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 because of its outstanding architecture and its influence on subsequent architectural developments in other Central European city centres.

Visit of the chilling Ossuary in Sedlec, transfer to the city centre of Kutna Hora – individual visit of the city and the church with entry tickets included.

Overnight stay and dinner at a 4-star hotel in Kutná Hora.

After breakfast, we’ll travel from Kutna Hora to reach the Pilgrimage church of St. John Nepomuk at Zelena Hora – This pilgrimage church was built in honor of St John of Nepomuk. Constructed at the beginning of the 18th century on a star-shaped plan, it is the most unusual work by the great architect Jan Blazej Santini, whose highly original style falls between neo-Gothic and Baroque.

Individual time for lunch in Brno, the second biggest city in the Czech Republic. You can visit the city center and climb up hill to Špilberk castle.

Optional stop at Villa Tugendhat based on availability, an architecturally significant building in Brno. It is one of the pioneering prototypes of modern architecture in Europe and was designed by the German architects Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich, and included in UNESCO in 2001.

Accommodation in Southern Moravian winery including dinner and wine tasting.

Between the 17th and 20th centuries, the ruling dukes of Liechtenstein transformed their domains in southern Moravia into a striking landscape. It married Baroque architecture, mainly the work of Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, and the classical and neo-Gothic style of the castles of Lednice and Valtice with countryside fashioned according to English romantic principles of landscape architecture.

In the morning we’ll visit the town center and chateau. The Telč Chateau ranks among the gems of Moravian Renaissance architecture. Its attractiveness is enhanced by the very sensitive approach of the owners to its heritage; thus, the original interiors have been preserved in very good condition. Many of them are representative examples of the influence of Italian art on the Czech territory and of its variations in the area north of the Alps.

Lunch in seafood restaurant in Třeboň – charming town famous for its fish ponds teeming with sweet water fish, particularly carp. When visiting Třeboň, it’s a must to try the local specialty: carp fries. The tender and flavorful carp fries are a beloved dish in the region and a true delicacy for seafood lovers.

Transfer and overnight to Český Krumlov.

Free individual morning in UNESCO heritage city Český Krumlov.

Situated on the banks of the Vltava river, the town was built around a 13th-century castle with Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements. It is an outstanding example of a small central European medieval town whose architectural heritage has remained intact thanks to its peaceful evolution over more than five centuries.

Leaving Cesky Krumlov we’ll drive through the town of Holašovice – complete and well-preserved example of a traditional central European village included in UNESCO world heritage sites. It has a large number of outstanding 18th- and 19th-century vernacular buildings in a style known as ‘South Bohemian folk Baroque’, and preserves a ground plan dating from the Middle Ages.

Group lunch and guided visit of the state chateau of Hluboká.

Originally a royal castle above the Vltava River, after many changes in 1661, it became the property of the Schwarzenberg family and another one of Czech UNESCO sites.

Transfer and overnight in Prague.

In the morning guided tour of the castle, cathedral and royal gardens.

Lunch and Free afternoon – after lunch we can take you back to the hotel or give you suggestions where to shop for souvenirs and local delicacies to bring back home.

Dinner at the oldest medieval tavern in Prague. Prepare yourself for a night filled with table jugglers, swordsmen, fakirs, and beggars, as well as mesmerizing medieval music performed by a live band. Indulge in the unique taste of medieval food specialties prepared over an open fire and eaten with your bare hands, all while being surrounded by a shockingly authentic medieval atmosphere and mouthy service.
